Der Sinn: (n.) the sense. It can also correspond to 'mind,' 'meaning,' and 'feeling.'
I find this word lovely because it invokes the English word 'sin.'
I just read Ladies and Gentlemen, the Bible! and, in the story of Genesis as re-spun by the author, a certain Eve bites a certain apple. Directly thereafter, she is assaulted by new sensations and experiences. The sum of these strange feelings is so wonderful that she ends up getting Adam to take a bite, too, so that he can feel what it's like to have human senses.
One sin, I guess, inevitably leads to another... And in this case, that isn't so bad...
