Okay, so there is something of a mix-up in the ordering, but bear with me. The first picture is a general panorama of the Hirschgarten during a crowded hour. It looked to me as though at least a thousand people were sitting out when I got there. This would have been a few nights ago, when I walked in looking for a group of friends who had left maybe an hour before I did.
I didn't find those friends, incidentally, for about two hours, and what happened in the meantime is a story for later.
Not to put you all through another language lesson, but 'Hirsch' means 'deer' in German. The Hirschgarten has a huge enclosure with maybe two or three dozen deer wandering about in various stages of life and antler'd-ness.
This was my beverage that visit; a half-liter of Weissbier, a sweeter and subtler brew than the light lager that we see more commonly.
Maybe the difference in size between the glasses doesn't come through clearly with the photos, but this glass is a 'Mass' (pronounces 'maas') and contains a liter of beer. This particular empty was waiting for me at my table. I figured I'd make use of it for documentation purposes before someone scooped it away.
