Wort des Tages: Lebensmittel

Lebensmittel: (n.) Groceries or foodstuffs in general.  Coming from our favorite German word-piece (Lebens, which still means 'life's' or 'of life') and the word 'Mittel,' which Google Translate tells me denotes 'means' or 'resources.'  Thus we have Lebensmittel: 'the means of life.'

And what better to do with Lebensmittel than cook it on up??? 

First: the ingredients (in this case only shallots are left - everything else is in the pot) [these shallots say they are gourmet but they feel like they'll start rotting in a day or two and that tends to ruin the effect).

 

Next, the product in progress!  This pan contains corn, mushrooms, and shallots frying in butter.

Seems like the last picture is always the one unwilling to get big...  Anyway, somewhere in this pot of water should be some pasta, but it seems to either have disappeared or made a dive for the bottom. 

I guess I'd better go pour it out...
